National Mapping is responsible for creating, updating and maintenance of the base maps of the Maldives, produce authoritative boundary maps, and maintaining the geographic feature names.
The national spatial data infrastructure is the framework for sharing geographic data across different sectors of the country. The department works in establishing the framework datasets (fundamental geospatial data themes) in collaboration with different sectors. The portal for sharing geospatial data is onemap.mv

Remote sensing and photogrammetry functions are responsible for collecting, analyzing and interpreting spatial data from satellites imagery, aerial imagery as well as data captured using drones. Their works include capturing high resolution images , creating accurate maps, augmenting land surveys, creating 3D models as well as monitoring changes over time.
